What is important to do when using pepper spray?
If possible, always maintain distance between you and the attacker while using the pepper spray. Aim the spray at the face, especially eyes of the attacker and then shoot the spray for 1-2 seconds. Keep your eyes on the attacker and start moving backwards. After shooting, the attacker will halt within seconds, blinded and almost helpless due to unbearable coughing and severe burning. Once the attacker disables, stop spraying. Continue backing and concentrate on moving away.
What is important not to do when using pepper spray?
Never pitch your shooting hand out in front of you towards the attacker. He or she may respond rapidly and hit your hand aside to grab it. Shooting Technique
