Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the preliminary tests for undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and postgraduate subjects in the Science stream. Besides giving aspirants a chance to pursue an M.Tech. from institutions like the IITs /NITs, a good GATE score can be highly instrumental in enabling them to land a plush public sector job, as many PSUs are recruiting graduate engineers based on their performance in GATE.
The GATE examination pattern has undergone several changes over the years, sometimes apparent and sometimes subtle, and is bound to continue to do so with the changing technological environment. The content has been systematically organized to facilitate easy understanding of all topics. The concepts are accompanied by numerous examples to ensure that students understand the concepts associated with the problems, while getting a good idea about the different types of problems on a particular topic.
The Practice Exercises at the end of every unit contain questions ranging from simple to moderate and difficult levels. These exercises are meant to hone the aspirants’ exam-readiness. The end-of-unit exercises are followed by a collation of Previous Years’ Questions to give the aspirants a glimpse of questions asked in the examination. Lastly, the book has an Appendix containing all the new topics that have been added to the syllabus in recent years. In-keeping with the expectations in this digital age of learning, the book has been equipped with online resources in an e-library, where aspirants can find additional practice questions, previous years’ questions, hints and solutions to questions provided within the book, as well as multiple mock tests for better preparation. This book has been prepared by a group of highly experienced faculty, who have not only been training GATE candidates over the years but are also experts in their subjects.
