About the Book:-The author arrived at Lucknow with her husband in March, 1857 - only a few weeks before the Sepoy Mutiny outbreak. The annexed extracts from a subsequent letter point out the precise circumstances under which this record, of events so painfully interesting, was kept. As no lady's diary has hitherto been given to the public, the friends of the writer have thought that it might interest others, beyond the family circle, to communicate additional information on a subject in which the British nation feels so deep an interest.
