India has undergone numerous changes since Independence. The decades after the Independence have seen notable changes both geographical and political which have affected the lives of the people residing in this country. This book, Accidental India takes up some of the notable political reforms and changes that took place over the decades to make a whole new India.
Synopsis
Accidental India: A History of the Nation's Passage through Crisis and Change is quite a significant book that is though provoking and inspiring at the same time. This book however takes up the prime changes and through these he examines the country's ascent through the paradigm of the seven types of game changers. These are namely, the Green Revolution of the sixties, the Nationalization of a Number of Banks in 1969, the Operational Flood in the Seventies, the Introduction of Mid-Day Meal Scheme of The Year 1982, The economic Liberalization of 1991, the Software Revolution of the Nineties and most importantly the passing of the Right to Information Act in 2005.
The book has been written by the author with the sole aim to point out that each of these turning points that were introduced in the country were not the result of any foresightedness but accidental consequences of the major crises that the political leaders had to resolve at any given cost. .
