ABOUT THE BOOK
The book "Empowering Women through Participatory Methods" is based on the research study conducted at Banaras Hindu University as a part of Ph D work.
This book seeks to illustrate gender aspects of rural life based on learning from field experiences. The book advocates participatory rural appraisal as an emerging method of women empowerment, hence may prove to be an eye opener for the policy makers and organisations, dealing with women empowerment and development.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Shivani Srivastava is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Home Science at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Govt. P. G. College, Aliganj, Lucknow. She did her graduation in Home Science from Narendra Dev Agricultural University, Kumarganj, Faizabad and Post Graduation and Ph.D from Banaras Hindu University. Her area of specialization is Extension Education. She has done extensive research on issues related to Women Empowerment. She has about 17 years of teaching experience at UG and PG level to her credit. She also has 21 publications in reputed journals to her credit. She has supervised 2 M.Phil and 1 Ph.D student in successfully completing their research. She has worked as Programme Officer of NSS and incharge of Rovers and Rangers in her Institution for a number of years. During her tenure, she had organized a number of programmes focusing on personality development of youth and their involvement towards social welfare. She had also been awarded by the Dept. of Transfusion Medicine, King George Medical University, Lucknow in recognition for her contribution in organizing a number of Blood Donation camps in her institution.
