A man of many sided interest - Education, Journalism, Law, Constitution, History, Politica l Science, Languages - Bengali, Hindi, Oriya, Sanskrit and English. A notable local leader in social services and founder of Local Bengali Daily (1981). Authored several books in English and Bengali - His Vidyasagar in the World Perspective (from Napoleon to Mao), a criticism on Gandhiji, history of Muslims in India and an honourable evaluation of the Quran, Essays on Bharat vs India, Jago Bharat are well circulated in West Bengal and appeared as best seller. Contributes political articles in 2 Bengali weeklies of Calcutta.

ABOUT THE BOOK Four Thousand-Years of Education in Bharatvarsa - A History is a study on the progress and status of Education in Bharatvarsa - not India, though Education in India Constitutes a major part of the book. The total period has been divided into 12 chapters and the division of the period has been done following the principles laid down by the great K. M. Munsi - Kulapati and Ramesh Chandra Mazumder. Every chapter is based on a historical perspective which may enable a reader to appraise the status and progress of education in that particular historical period. This book is based on the researches done by learned predecessors. The author has simply tried a compilation. There are books on education but those are in parts - Ancient, Mediaeval, Modern and so on.
