Description

Gautam Buddha Jeevan Aur Darshan is a book about the life and teachings of a remarkable man. Gautama Buddha or Siddhartha Gautama was a sage on whose teachings the religion of Buddhism was founded. He is believed to have taught and lived mostly in eastern India between the 4th and 6th century BC The word, Buddha, means the enlightened one. This book follows the life of Siddhartha, who was the son of uddhodana, the chief of the Shakya clan. The book gives an account of the early days of Gautam Buddha from his birth till his death. It recounts the numerous stories about the Prince, such as the prediction made by the various holy men when Buddha was young, stating that he would either be a great king or a great holy man. This book also looks into the manner in which his father shielded him from the suffering in the world and how the young prince gave up the palace and the life of a king when he saw the suffering of an old man.Gautam Buddha Jeevan Aur Darshan is a book that explains with stories how the young prince, Siddhartha, found enlightenment by discovering what is called by Buddhists as the middle way- a path of moderation away from the extremes of self-indulgence and self-mortification. For the remaining years of his life, the Buddha is said to have taught a large number of people from noblemen and servants to murderers and cannibals showing each one of them the way to attain nirvana. He is said to have travelled in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal, spreading his teachings wherever he went. The book is written in simple language and helps the reader to better understand the life and the teachings of Gautama Buddha. The book, published by Rajpal and Sons, is written in Hindi and is available in hardcover.
