Synopsis
Subtly raising pertinent issues like racism and personal identity, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book of the Harry Potter series. The second-year at Hogwarts is made mysterious by messages that appear on the walls, warning that the chamber of secrets has been opened, and the ‘Heir of Slytherin’ would kill all students who come from families which are not all magical. The plot unwinds slowly, centering on the mysterious book in which Ron’s sister Ginny writes. It is revealed that her mind is possessed and has unleashed the power of the Basilisk, a snake that petrifies whoever it makes an eye-contact with. The story of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ends with Harry killing the serpent and ridding Hogwarts of yet another peril. The book is a wonderful read for children and young adults.

Rowling and Robert Galbraith is a British author who conjured up the character of the scrawny bespectacled wizard boy when travelling on the tube. She is also a renowned screenwriter and film writer, who has created the hugely popular Harry Potter series of books and movies.
