Synopsis
Orphaned at an early age by the evil Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter is a boy who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday. In the story of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, he embarks on a journey which takes him to meet new friends, unearths old secrets, and learns about the old foe. The plot revolves around the search for the Philosopher’s Stone which reportedly has the power to raise Voldemort from death. Eventually, Harry succeeds in protecting the stone from Voldemort and it is revealed that his strength comes from his mother’s love. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first in a series of books which captured the imaginations of children and young adults as well as the older folk alike, and was swiftly converted into movies.

Rowling and Robert Galbraith is a British author who conjured up the character of the scrawny bespectacled wizard boy when travelling on the tube. Besides the Harry Potter series, she has also authored book for adults such as The Casual Vacancy, The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil. She is also a renowned screen writer and film writer, who has created the hugely popular Harry Potter series of books and movies.
