Harivansh Rai Bachchan's most celebrated work in Indian Poetry is Madhushala (Hindi). It is a collection of unconventional poetry by him.
The book was written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan back in 1935, when he was 28 years of age. ‘Madhushala’ means a tavern. In his poems he constantly mentions the pleasure of Saaki (bar woman), pyala (wine), and the tavern.
Madhushala is written in the rubaii form, which is a form of Arabic poetry. His poems bring out the real meaning of joy in life. He looks beyond doctrine and chimerical ideas to give readers a glimpse of the purest form of happiness. There are 135 rubaiis in this book of literature and fiction. It captivates the heart in such a way that readers might initially feel, that it is more to do with the celebration of liquor. Order this book online on Snapdeal to get it delivered to your doorstep.
