ABOUT THE BOOK The second volume on Man, The Spiritual, under 'Trilogy', is an evaluation of the philosophy of Man in the context of the examination of 'Religion' as the basis of Indian culture and tradition. Swami Vivekananda uses the term religion for the natural analysis of internal and external aspects of man in a synthetic form, which, in His observation, develops the creative state of universality with the realization of highest value of 'Unity' as it is divine or spiritual in a transcendent-experiential form. ‘Spirituality', He observes, is not mere transcendentality, but it is the realization of transcendent value of unity in different experiential processes in different degrees. This is purely creative as in one hand it transcends different limitations or contradictions in human existence and is also an experiential process of realizing highest value in reconciling contradictions in unity.
About the Author
Dr. Santi Nath Chattopadhyay, LLB, PRS (Mouat Gold Medalist), Ph.D, D.Litt, is a well known writer, researcher, orator, peace thinker, and activist, with a brilliant academic career, a long and continuous research works under the University of Calcutta. Being a reputed educationist and teacher of philosophy and culture, he has served several educational institutions under Calcutta & Burdwan Universities, West Bengal, India, & finally, he was selected as reader of philosophy in 1986 and as Head of the Department of Philosophy in 1990 at Bangabasi College (Calcutta University), an Institution of National Importance, Kolkata, India and retired from the same institution on August 2003. He is felicitated with Honor at several Institutions and organizations and received several awards like, Mouat Gold Medal from Calcutta University, 1985; Peace Award, Kolkata Peace Movement, Gorky Sadan, 2009; The Global Citizen Award, The Global Trust of India, 2010; Bharat Excellence Award with Gold Medal, New Delhi, 2006; The Creator of Culture of Peace Award, WCPA, USA, 2011; The Pinnacle Award with International Profiles for Accomplished Leaders, USA, 2011 and so on.
