In this series Max who has left New York City following a fight with the local mob is offered a way out by an acquaintance, Raul to work as a security for a wealthy family in Brazil taking him far away from his old world. In this edition of Max Payne 3, players get to control a much more cynical and world-weary older Max. There is no doubt that Max still continues to drown the memories of his past by heavy drinking and taking more painkillers to get by. Max joins as a security guard for the wealthy Branco brothers, Rodrigo Branco a real-estate mogul, Victor a local politician and Marcelo who parties all night long. Max once again gets in to action and violence when Commando Sombra, a street gang, attempts to kidnap members of the Branco family for ransom. Offering both single and multi-player options, Max Payne 3 allows players to enjoy a challenging game with friends. Like previous series Max Payne 3 remains the same with over-the-shoulder camera. Players can even slow down time with bullets while ensuring to hit targets accurately. Last Stand is a new features with which Max can shoot the enemy who shot him when he is about to die.

The Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) and the Euphoria Dynamic Animation Engine helps the game to deliver realistic graphics and action sequences. With improvement the physics of the game has also been upgraded ensuring every action which Max performs to sync with the environment.
