Description

Epsom salt in the garden is recommended for a variety of uses, starting with your garden startup and including variety of plants such as vegetables, tomatoes, fruit and roses. They say Epsom salt can also help with house plants, as well as lawns, trees and shrubs. Studies show that magnesium is naturally occurring minerals that are major components of Epsom salt, help plants grow greener with higher yields and more blooms. Magnesium creates an environment conducive to growth by helping seeds to germinate, increasing chlorophyll production and improving phosphorus and nitrogens uptake. this is also a key element in plant growth, helping produce vitamins. In gardening and other agriculture, Epsom salt is used to correct a magnesium deficiency in soil; magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule is another important micro nutrient. It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, lemon trees, carrots, and peppers. The advantage of Epsom salt over other magnesium soil amendments (such as dolomitic lime) is its high solubility, which also allows the option of foliar feeding. Solutions of Epsom salt are also nearly neutral, as compared to alkaline salts of magnesium, as found in limestone; therefore, the use of Epsom salt as a magnesium source for soil does not significantly change the soil pH. How to Use: Houseplants: 2 tablespoons per gallon of water; feed plants monthly. Roses: 1 tablespoon per foot of plant height per plant; apply every two weeks. Also scratch 1/2 cup into soil at base to encourage flowering canes and healthy new basal cane growth. Soak unplanted bushes in 1 cup of Epsom Salt per gallon of water to help roots recover. Add a tablespoon of Epsom Salt to each hole at planting time. Shrubs (evergreens, azaleas, rhododendron): 1 tablespoon per 9 square feet. Apply over root zone every 2-4 weeks. Trees: Apply 2 tablespoons per 9 square feet. Apply over the root zone 3 times annually. Garden Startup: Sprinkle 1 cup per 100 square feet. Mix into soil before planting. Promotes Seed Germination, Makes plant grow dense & robust, Increases chlorophyll content in plants. Increases Flower Bloom Count.
