Nirmala is one of the all time Hindi classic novel by the renowned author Munshi Premchand. It was first published in the year 1928 and has been liked by the readers year after year. Till date it is considered to be one of the best Hindi novels of all time.
Synopsis
The central character of this novel is a young girl called Nirmala, who was forced to marry a person as old as his father. To her utter surprise Nirmala finds out after marriage that her husband is widowed and has three sons. The eldest of the sons is almost of the same age as Nirmala. She goes through a lot of pain and patience to cope up with this weird situation and accept her awful destiny. It takes a lot of time for her to accept her step children as her own but at last her materialistic instincts take her over and she slowly starts feeling for her step children and finally begins to accept them as her own. She even tried to accept the old, bald headed person as her husband and the foul mouthed sister of her husband as her sister-in -aw. After some time, her husband starts suspecting that Nirmala is having an illicit affair with her eldest step son. You need to read the novel to know what happens next.

Premchand is an iconic Hindi writer who was known to write about the suffering of common people in their daily lives. Some refer to him as the "Upanyas Samrat" for his work in the early 20th century.
