About the Book:- The whole Sub-Saharan Africa and especially in Ethiopia, the household's capacity to manage risk is very low due to multiple factors coupled with a poor asset based lives, which makes them vulnerable to food insecurity. Consequently, policy interventions designed to reduce vulnerability are becoming increasingly important, making it crucial to develop reliable and easily applied measures of vulnerability to enhance the targeting efficiency of such policy measures. In particular, the welfare status of a substantial share of the population may be just above the food security threshold.Food security situation in Ethiopia is highly linked to recurring food shortage and famine in the country, which are associated to recurrentdrought. Ethiopia is chronically affected by multiple hazards as well as floods and drought as the main risks. Due to this above 20 million people were vulnerable to poverty and food insecurity. About the Author:- Dr. Karanam Viswa Bhushan, Associate professor of social work who has been working in Maharaja's Post graduate college(awarded 'A' Grade by NACC) since two decades (affiliated to Andhra university) Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. India.He successfully completed the employment contract under Unite Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for two years as Associate Professor in Ethiopian Civil Service University, Ethiopia .During this tenure a lot of research work was done in various social issues.He secured his Bachelor's, Master's (Post Graduation) and Doctoral degrees in social work from Andhra University and awarded first rankwith gold medal at post graduation studies. His area of specialization is community development. He secured International certificate in community development and Adult education at Nijmegen University, Netherlands.He has participated in several National and International (Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and Canada) seminars, conferences and workshops and enriched with the knowledge of social work education. He has zeal of learning and greataptitude towards teaching and research. He has delivered guest lectures in several universities in Canada, Belgium and Germany. His focused areas are capacity building, empowering women groups (SHG'S, DWACRA'S), child education and health, youth development, Awareness building on social issues, community development in urban slums, rural and tribal areas.
