The Sekonic L-308 S Flashmate (Black) is by far the smallest and lightest digital light meter by Sekonic. This pocket-sized device is designed to record ambient or flash exposures in reflected as well as incident modes. Also, it accurately displays exposure readings in full, half, or third-stop increments to replicate the exposure settings of highly advanced DSLR and film cameras.As soon as you set it to work on full-stop mode, it displays exposures in tenth-stop increments with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV.
The L-308S features an LCD screen that displays exposure data and related information using large and easy-to-read icons. It is worth mentioning that these icons are perfectly readable in even low-level lighting conditions.
Measuring Incident or Reflected Light
It captures reflected light readings at a receiving angle of about 40 degrees for subject readings made at the camera. To record incident light exposure readings of three-dimensional subjects, you can easily slide the built-in Lumisphere over the silicon photo diode. For other things like metering flat artwork or measuring contrast and/or exposure ratios within a scene, you can snap on the included Lumidisc over the sensor.
Ambient/Flash Measurement
Using the L-308S, you can record incident or reflected ambient light readings over a wide array of lighting conditions at shutter speeds varying from 60 seconds to 1/8000th of a second and apertures from f/stops of f/1.4 to f/90.9. Also, you can measure flash at speeds from 1 to 1/500th of a second with the help of a separate accessory PC cord. This device automatically calculates flash and ambient readings for displaying proper exposure for the combination.
Precise Measurements
The L-308S accurately records ambient and electronic flash light readings down to a tenth-of-a-stop in full-stop mode. To mirror the exposure settings on your camera with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV, it displays shutter speeds and apertures in half or third-stop increments. Also, you can set frame rates from 8 to 128 frames per second for cinema applications. Further, ISO sensitivity can be achieved by setting 3 to 8000 in third-stop increments.

The L-308S is a compact, light digital flash meter that would easily fit into your shirt pocket. In fact, it is known to be the smallest digital flash meter for reflective and incident light readings in ambient or electronic flash lighting conditions. Despite its small size, the device is capable of meeting almost every photographic demand. This digital meter is powered by a single AA battery and weighs only 95g.
