ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Prof. Gull Mohammad Wani is a political scientist, teaching in the department of political science university of Kashmir. He was director UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Kashmir Studies where he introduced a masters programme on "Kashmir and South Asia" and taught a group of local and SAARC students . He is member of several South Asian civil society networks. Professor Wani has to his credit three books and twenty research papers on issues related to Identity, autonomy and democracy in South Asia. Prof. Wani is visiting professor at the Centre for Multi-level Federalism Institute of Social Sciences New Delhi and has recently been offered visiting fellowship at Delhi university. He is state coordinator centre for the study of developing societies, Delhi and presently director UGC- Human Resource Development Centre at Kashmir University. He has visited England, Northern Ireland, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Thailand, Belgium and many other countries for participation in international academic conferences. He has participated in several peace conferences between India and Pakistan and has actively participated in inter and intra-regional conferences in Jammu and Kashmir state.
