About the Author

Lynn Melchiori has many years of experience as an art instructor. As a full-time Art Teacher she has been able to successfully develop a varied curriculum that meets the needs of all learning styles and abilities. Teaching art has been a passion for Lynn since she was a very young child. She recounts the times when, in school, she would teach fellow classmates how to draw during "in-door recess" on rainy days. Summers as a teen were spent running arts and crafts camps at various summer programs. In addition, Lynn was very active with the Girls Scouts as a leader of 2 troops and Chairwoman of the Western Mass Girl Scout Council. Her favorite visual mediums are watercolors along with the use of pen and ink to add emphasis and definition to her work and color pencil. With a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, Lynn continues to teach art through her books, private instruction and through her website. Lynn makes her home in Berkshire County, Massachusetts and works at Williams College in the Office for Information Technology. "Covering the concepts of shading and perspective, I have taught the utilization of a variety of art medium to help increase understanding and how to convey a sense of a 3rd dimension in a 2 dimensional work space. As the student learns how to manipulate line to portray shape, distance, volume and emotion in their drawing they also have been taught how to view objects with a heightened sense of awareness..... Skills developed while learning how to draw improve one's ability in critical thinking as he or she works to conceptualize a form and then to render it in a creative, individual interpretation. These skills then branch outward to all other disciplines both academic and social." - Lynn M. Melchiori, BFA; M.Ed Lynn's years of experience as an art instructor have spanned many communities throughout the Berkshires. As a full-time Art Teacher for both the Central Berkshire Regional School District and the North Adams Public Schools (previously known as Lynn Singer), she has been able to successfully develop a varied curriculum that meets the needs of all learning styles and abilities. While offering both small group instruction and private lessons for all ages, Lynn has been able to use her professional experience to help others realize their artistic potential.
