" P " mint is Philadelphia. " D " mint is Denver. The Presidential Dollar Series began in 2007 with the release of the George Washington Coin , as the first president of the US. There would be four coins released per year, in the order of the Presidents' service in office. Living and recently deceased Presidents would not yet be included. The size and composition of the coin would be identical to the Sacagewa / Native American coin, currently in circulation. The obverse of the coin has the President's portrait, name, dates of the term in office, and a number ordinal for the order in office. The year date, mintmark, and the wording "In God We Trust" and "E Pluribus Unum" are removed from the face and placed on the edges of the coins. The reverse of the coin bears a likeness of the Statue of Liberty, and includes the denomination ",1" and " United States of America". The series is an extremely well thought out and attractive issue, but did not get the wide spread circulation that the government had hoped for. But it is a very collectible set of coins, and will be popular as a US dollar coin for many years to come. Please feel free to write us with any questions.
