The Need for Special Wearables
Cricket generally needs special wearables while playing. The reason for this is the many actions that the players are required to perform during the game. The batspersons and the bowlers don’t require as many special wearables as the fielders do. The funny thing here, though, is the fact that the batspersons and the bowlers, too, have to field for a major part of the game. When a fielder chases a ball in order to stop it or to catch it, he or she may have to occasionally dive in to catch it. At times, he or she may also require skidding on the ground to stop the ball. In such cases, it becomes a dire necessity to see that the wearable of the player is cooperating with him or her in his or her effort. This is because it is a decisive factor in determining whether the player would be able to perform the activity with full zest or would the wearable act as limiting force to it.
Different Categories of Wearables
Cricket wearables come in different categories based on the way they can be utilised as well as the form of the game they are utilised for. Based on the player's position on the field, the wearables can be classified as full sleeved wearables, which are preferred by fielders and batspersons, and the half sleeved wearables which are preferred by the bowlers. The full sleeved wearables keep the arms and forearms of the players away from the sun whereas the half sleeved wearables allow the freedom the bowler needs to rotate his or her arm. Based on the form of the game, different outfits are used. The white overalls and flannels are generally used for cricket test matches that are played under the sun for the most part of the day whereas the glazy tops are worn by players in shorter forms of cricket like the Twenty20.
