History
Saws are tools that were invented centuries ago in Egypt somewhere between 3,100-2,686 BC. The saws of that time were made of copper and did not have a handle; they were used for cutting through a number of materials. The Egyptian saws were first made with serrated edges and would cut when pushed or pulled. Later its teeth were designed in such a way that they cut only when pulled. The Roman Hierapolis sawmill was the earliest sawmill known to man. Circular saws were invented in the U.S. in the 18th century and were being used in all the saw mills. Later years saw, the development of saw cutters and new advancements in technology have made cutting materials easy.
How to Use the Saw
Saw cutters can be extremely dangerous to use so always remember to use the right safety equipment like goggles and ear muffs, and the right pair of gloves. It is a good idea to always be cautious while handling it. Remember to always first clamp down the material you are working on by using a vise. There are a number of levers with which you can adjust the depth of the saw; the depth of the saw blade has to be just below the material that you are working. So clamp down the level, line up the saw at the notch where you want to make the cut, start the saw and let it get up to speed and then move forward to make the cut. If you are working with wood, you should clamp down only on one side otherwise the wood will be splinted.
Uses
The basic use of a saw is to cut through strong material. Saws are essential to produce large woodwork-related projects. This could be anything from building a table to building a house. There are different saws used for different purposes. Hand held saws make woodwork projects at home easier, you have cold saws to cut through metal, saw mills and circular saw cutters that are used to cut bigger logs of wood.
